Seventeen outstanding 5
th grade students, winners of the OLP Science Fair held in February, participated in the Greater Kansas City Science and Engineering Fair at Union Station held April 6 and 7. Over 800 student projects from all over the Kansas City area were judged. Awards earned by OLP students that weekend include two silvers, 15 golds, four division winners, and 3 special awards, one of which will result in the student’s project being displayed at the Linda Hall Library at the University of Kansas. The projects submitted by OLP students were the result of some informative and interesting research, including how to best use hydropower, which light bulb lasts the longest, how to use fruit to complete a circuit, and even which diaper brand is the best for your baby.
