Extracurricular Music Program

This year the Extracurricular Music Program has four groups. Students can play violin, viola, cello, bass, or ukulele. 

Here are the groups:

Chamber Orchestra (advanced strings)
String Orchestra (beginner strings)
7th/8th Grade Ukulele (advanced) 
5th/6th Grade Ukulele (beginner)  
Percussion Ensemble

Students are expected to attend all rehearsals unless they have spoken with me about a schedule conflict that excuses them from the rehearsal.

Students can make tremendous progress individually, which leads to less frustration and more motivation for practicing and performing. If your child seems motivated and passionate, lessons are a fantastic way to help your child progress faster. I can recommend some teachers upon request.
 
Due to the major growth of the extracurricular music program, there will be a one time $50 per family fee.

Mission Statement
The Our Lady of the Presentation extracurricular music program is a God-centered positive learning environment where students can explore and excel in the expression of music while building cooperative learning skills, leadership skills, and citizenship skills.
 
Objectives

1. Personal Responsibility:  Know what to do, and take initiative to take care of responsibilities correctly and thoroughly to the best of your ability.  This includes, but is not limited to, being on time to all rehearsals, listening to and following instructions, and be preparing by practicing and bringing all materials to rehearsal.
2. Developing Musicianship as a Form of Stewardship and Collective Worship:  We will aim to provide prayerful music for masses and various performances.
3. Attention to Detail:  Intentional hours of effort, planning and practice go into every performance.  Understand your music in detail, execute with perfection, and take time outside of rehearsals to practice every day and be prepared.
4. Work Hard:  Be a member who will give 100% at every rehearsal and performance.  The more we care and the more we work the better we will become.  We will foster an awareness of the hard work and dedication of a musician and the intrinsic motivation necessary to persist in our development.
